Amantea, which is a larger popular seaside town with a long promenade, is approx. 10 minute drive further north. It is a busy town with all the modern amenities: variety of shops and boutiques, café bars, restaurants/pizzeria, gelatarias, pharmacies, post office etc. these blend well with the charming old historical centre where you can meander through the traditional narrow streets and enjoy the true feel of Calabria.  The marina beach front offers beach bars and lidos and a small Acqua Park, children’s play area and a variety of seasonal activities. It also hosts many festivals and fieras during the year and a daily market selling locally grown fruit and vegetables. It has a good railway station which gives easy access to anywhere on the west coast.
Within a short drive is the town of Lamezia/Nicastro, where there is a vast array of amenities afforded by the principal town for the area together with a zone of archaeological interest and within easy reach is the thermal springs of Lamezia Terme – and Health Spa – La Caronte.
The House is conveniently positioned to explore the many traditional hilltop villages eg.  Belmonte Calabro, Fiumefreddo Bruzio, Cleto and many more, plus La Sila National Park, which is approx. 1 ½ hr drive away boasts some of the most spectacular and dramatic scenery offered in the area coupled with year-round activities such as walking, pony trekking, quad bikes and skiing. Areas of archaeological interest are within easy reach and the museum housing the Bronzes of Riace is at Reggio Calabria. Activities can be found, such as scuba diving and mountain biking at Belmonte Calabro, kite surfing at Gizzeria and rafting at Scalea to name a few.
