Enter into the property through a traditional wooden door into a spacious entrance hall with a wooden beamed ceiling and marble effect tiled floor. Off the hall is the bathroom with bath and separate shower, one bedroom which again has wooden beamed ceilings and then into the spacious dining room. Belmonte Calabro, a fortified Medieval village with some of its well-preserved walls still visible today, is one of the most interesting and well-preserved in the Southern Tyrrhenian area. The typically Medieval layout of archways and steep steps; traditional houses along narrow, winding cobbled streets open into small piazzas where one can sit and enjoy the local ambiance. It offers a variety of local amenities as well as beautiful churches, a restaurant and café bars.
From its elevated position the village overlooks Belmonte Marina, a 10-minute drive away and it provides all local amenities: grocery shops, butcher, bakery, café bars, post office etc. together with a beach front that offers a variety of beach bars and lidos and a diving school during the summer months. There is also a mountain biking school offering excursions either with your own bike or bikes for hire. Tomato farming is of great importance for the area and the local tomatoes, large and tasty are called “Pomodoro di Belmonte” have received the PDO (Protected Designation Origin) status. Dried figs are also of high quality and well-recognized specialties: in 1910, the first producers were from Belmonte and are still producing excellent products today!!.
Amantea is a 10 minute drive south and is a busy town with all the modern amenities: variety of shops and boutiques, café bars, restaurants/pizzeria, gelatarias, pharmacies, post office etc. this blends well with the charming old historical centre where you can meander through the traditional narrow streets and enjoy the true feel of Calabria. The marina beach front offers beach bars and lidos and a small Acqua Park, children’s play area and a variety of seasonal activities. It also hosts many festivals and fieras during the year and a daily market selling locally grown fruit and vegetables.
The SS18 and the Autostrada A3 are easily accessible from where you can explore the many traditional Italian villages and the spectacular National Park of La Sila which offers year-round activities such as hiking, pony trekking, quad biking and in the winter months skiing.
Close by are the Thermal Springs at Guardia Piemontese offering curative mineral waters and mud baths for a variety of conditions with the Terme Luigiane providing Spa treatments from May to October. Located at the Grand Hotel San Michele at Cetraro, approx. 40 mins drive north there is a 9-hole golf course. Kite surfing at Gizzeria is another option as is rafting at Scalea, both within an easy access from where the property is located.
